MMA fans looking to bet on UFC 84 are in for a treat this Saturday evening with one of the the most impressive fight cards in months. Sportsbook.com has odds for all 11 fights, featuring BJ “The Prodigy” Penn (-260) as he defends his lightweight belt from former champ Sean “Muscle Shark” Sherk (+200). Sherk has a huge motivating factor heading into this fight considering he was stripped from the title last year after testing positive for steroids. It is obvious that the powerfully built Sherk still considers himself the rightful owner of the belt and there is obviously no love loss between he and Penn. “I can’t wait to fight BJ Penn and get my belt back…You know, to be the champion, you have to beat the champion. So I still think of myself as the real champion, and I can’t wait for UFC 84 so I can bring my belt back home to Minnesota.” Retrieving “his” belt will be no easy task however. Penn is widely considered one of the most skilled and well rounded fighters in all of MMA. Holding a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, the Hawaiian native is the first non-Brazilian to win the gold medal at the black belt level at the Mundial World Championships. Penn is not limited to jiu-jitsu game however, as he is also adept at standing and slugging it out. Point-Spreads.com readers looking to bet on UFC 84 need to know that Sherk has a very good wrestling background but has had trouble finishing his opponents as of late. Although he has won his last three fights over good competition, each of the three fights went the distance. Sherk’s best asset is without a doubt his conditioning. Not only is he extremely strong, but he has some of the best cardio in the business. Sherk’s best chance will be to take Penn to the mat and wear him down while outwrestling him. However it will be a tall task to spend 25 minutes on the ground with Penn without getting trapped in one of his suffocating submissions. Additionally it is very doubtful Sherk will make Penn ‘tap-out’ considering it hasn’t happened yet. Sportsbook.com has posted MMA odds to bet on UFC 84: Ill Will:
