Since coming over to the UFC in February of 2007, Mirko Cro Cop has amassed a pedestrian 3-3 record. The Croatian has 
losses to Gabriel Gonzaga, Cheick Kongo, and Junior Dos Santos, but he did win his last fight, taking out Anthony Perosh by TKO earlier this year. Had he lost that bout, Cro Cop would probably be employed elsewhere, and the same can probably be said if he falls to Barry this evening.
The legendary PRIDE fighter, who has recorded some of the most devastating knockouts in MMA history, will be facing a striker with a similar mindset in Barry. Which means the 35 year old had better be on his game or he may find himself lying prone on the canvas once again.
Pat Barry, a 30 year old New Orleans native, comes into this evening's dust-up with a 5-1 professional record. He is 2-1 in the UFC with his only loss coming by a Tim Hague submission. As evidence of Barry's explosive power, all five of his wins have come by either TKO or KO.
Barry, who last fought in October when he scored a second round TKO against Antoni Hardonk, idolized Cro Cop as a young fighter and said he even had a poster of the Croatian on his wall. His respect for the striker has not waned.
"Cro Cop is a living legend, and this guy has been one of my heroes since before my career even started," Barry said. "[Tonight] I get to meet him for the first time, shake his hand, and hopefully punch him in the face."
