UFC 100 Odds, Picks & Predictions: The undercard in this evening's UFC 100 event features a battle between top welterweights Jon Fitch and Paulo Thiago. The two are part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship's biggest card ever and should provide plenty of quality entertainment in the leadup to bouts between Frank Mir and Brock Lesnar and Georges St. Pierre and Thiago Alves. Jon Fitch, while not the biggest name in mixed martial arts, is one of the top fighters in the welterweight division. The Ft. Wayne, Indiana native has a career MMA record of 22-3 and he is 9-1 inside the Octagon. Fitch garnered a shot at champion Georges St. Pierre after winning a UFC record tying eight fights in a row.

The former Purdue wrestler succumbed to St. Pierre at UFC 87, losing by unanimous decision in the five round title match, but he did nothing to hurt his reputation as a hard nosed, grind it out warrior.

Fitch, who last fought in January, beating Akihiro Gono by unanimous decision at UFC 94, is looking to start another long win streak this evening. However, the 31 year old knows that Thiago will be a game opponent.

"Paulo is a very tough and very scrappy fighter," Fitch said. "I will have to be very technical and use my usual pressure to put him away."

Paulo Thiago enters this evening's match with an unblemished 8-0 mixed martial arts record. The Brasilia, Brazil native has earned just one of those victories as a UFC fighter. The 28 year old debuted in the organization in February of this year and shocked a number of people by getting a first round TKO against Josh Koscheck. 

The fight was unusal in that it appeared Koscheck was dictating the pace and winning on points. But Thiago proved his skills as a striker when he overwhelmed the favored UFC veteran with a series of devastating punches.

While Koscheck is an excellent fighter, he is not on par with Fitch, who has wins over Thiago Alves, Luigi Fioravanti, Deigo Sanchez, and Chris Wilson. The Brazilian seems to be well aware that he will need to be at his best in order to win tonight.

"Jon Fitch has a respectable background as a fighter," Thiago said. "I know we're both going to have a lot of action in this fight. I also know he's tough, has endurance, is hard to find and never quits. He's got a good team and I'm pretty sure he's not one to be beaten easily."

UFC 100 is scheduled to get underway at 10:00pm ET at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event can be seen live on Pay-Per-View.
