St.Pierre is coming fresh off his win against Matt Serra in UFC 83, making it three wins in a row since his shocking loss to Matt Serra in UFC 69. He defeated Serra by TKO in the second round. His previous fight against Matt Hughes in UFC 79 was won in dominating fashion when Pierre submitted Hughes by arm lock. He was pushed to the limit by Josh Koscheck in UFC 74, but it was clear that St.Pierre won as the judges gave him the unanimous decision. Since his loss to Serra St.Pierre has looked unstoppable, he’s good on his feet, has good wrestling and is a dominating jiu-jitsu fighter.
Thoughts on opponent Jon Fitch – He presents new challenges for me – he’s a great wrestler, has a black belt in jiu-jitsu, but I’m focused and I’m taking him very seriously.
Jon Fitch is a fighter who deserves a chance at a title after going undefeated in his last eight fights. He has had to fight some of the tougher fighters to get to the title shot. He’s beaten quality foes like Thiago Alves, Diego Sanchez, Luigi Fioravanti, Roan Carneiro, Brock Larson, Josh Burkman, Kuniyoshi Hironaka, and most recently Chris Wilson. A bonus for Fitch is that he’s been getting training from former opponent of St-Pierre, Josh Koscheck, who pushed GSP to the limit back in UFC 74 of last year. “I’ve been picking Koscheck’s brain since they fought,” said Fitch. “I’ve already got all the information out of Koscheck about him. Just knowing Kos and training with him so much and watching their fight, I can get a feel for St-Pierre and what he’s able to do and not do.”
What are your thoughts on opponent Georges St-Pierre – “He’s tough. He’s good on his feet, has good wrestling and jiu-jitsu, and it’s gonna be a tough fight. I can’t get into too much to give away a gameplan, but he’s athletic and quick and the only way to deal with that is timing, so I’m gonna have to make sure I’m very sharp that night.

The Bottom Line: It’s going to be a great fight that will go into the third round. There’s no easy way to beat GSP unless you get a lucky shot at his button. Fitch is no easy fight as you can tell by his record, but GSP will prove to be too much for Fitch.
