 The two best 155-pound fighters in the world finally meet, Saturday August 8, when UFC® lightweight champion BJ Penn looks to defend his crown against number one contender Kenny Florian. Penn has never lost at 155-pounds, and Florian is looking to change that. In the co-feature, the pound-for-pound king of mixed martial arts, middleweight champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva, tests the waters at 205 pounds once again when he battles former light heavyweight champ and Ultimate Fighter season one winner Forrest Griffin. Kenny Florian (+210) BJ Penn (13-5-1) lost his last fight to George St.Pierre at UFC 94 after a fourth round TKO. He is 3-3 in his last six fights with wins over Sean Sherk, Joe Stevenson and Jens Pulver. His losses include St.Pierre (twice) and Matt Hughes. His opponent Kenny Florian (13-3-0) is 6-0 in his last six fights, with only one loss in ten overall, losing to Sean Sherk. His most recent win was over Joe Stevenson by rear naked choke submission in the first round. Florian is well known for his background in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai and he has vicious elbows described as "razor sharp". Pick: BJ Penn -270 Anderson Silva (-500) Vs. Forrest Griffin (+300) Anderson Silva (24-0) has never lost a fight in the UFC, but hasn’t been truly tested in his last three fights. His last fight At UFC 97 Anderson Silva defeated Thales Leites by Unanimous Decision, defending his Middleweight Championship and recording his UFC record 9th consecutive win in the octagon. Thales Leites is credited with being the only man in UFC history to take Silva the distance. This also was the longest fight Silva has ever had in the UFC, making it all the way through the fight. The crowd repeatedly booed his lackluster performance, bored expression, and frustrated attempts to goad his opponent into fighting, and in the 4th and 5th rounds took to dancing, lowering his guard and slapping his opponent without retaliation. Following the fight, Dana White has stated that he was "embarrassed" by Silva's performance, but still said that he believes him to be "the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world". His opponent Forrest Griffin (16-5-0) is just the fighter to truly test the Spider. Despite losing his last fight to Rashad Evans at UFC 92, Griffin isn’t about to roll over. He has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to counter against Silva, who is weak on his back. He has notable wins over Quinton Jackson, Mauricio Hua and Hector Ramirez.
