UFC Fight Night Betting Odds Pearson vs Miller: The UFC hits Austin, Texas tonight for a Fight Night card at the Frank Erwin Center. The event is being headlined by a middleweight scrap between Nate Marquardt and Rousimar Palhares with the two combatants looking to move into position for a title shot. Also on the docket is a lightweight bout between Ross Pearson and Cole Miller. UFC Fight Night Betting Odds at Bodog.com have Pearson listed as a -270 moneyline favorite to defeat Miller.
England's Ross Pearson jumped onto the MMA scene after winning the lightweight division on The Ultimate Fighter season
nine. He has done nothing to quell expectations since that accomplishment, beating Aaron Riley and Dennis Siver to improve his professional record to 13-3.
Pearson, who last fought in March when he scored a unanimous decision victory over Siver, is primarliy a striker; however, he is also dangerous on the ground, where he has recorded five submission wins.
Despite his success on the mat, Pearson is taking nothing for granted against Miller, who is an accomplished ground fighter as well.
"Cole is a very dangerous submission specialist…I feel like he will be looking to take the fight to the ground to work his jiu-jitsu," Pearson said. "He is an up and coming fighter just like myself so it makes for a very exciting fight to see who moves to that next step in their career."
Cole Miller, who is 5-2 since joining the UFC in 2007, comes into this evening's battle having won three of his last four fights, including a first round submission of Dan Lauzon in January.
The winner of tonight's fight, along with the victor between Escudero and Charles Oliveira, who are also on the card, will put themselves firmly in the lightweight title picture.
UFC Fight Night is scheduled to get underway at 8:00pm ET and can be seen live on Spike TV.
