UFC 76 Picks: Chuck Liddell vs Keith Jardine

UFC 76 viewers will be watching Chuck Liddell vs Keith Jardine very closely tonight. You gotta love it when two punchers who know how to punch and bleed get in the octagon and try to puncture each others mugs with the little gloves. Chuck Liddell will be looking to get on the winning track when he faces fellow striker Keith Jardine in a fight between two guys who got laid out in the first round of their last fights.

Liddell has been KO’d three time in his MMA career but has showed his grapes following those two previous KO’s with impressive wins. Keith Jardine was smoked in his last outing against rising UFC star Houston Alexander but he has dynamite in both hands when he is upright. This is looked at as many to be a tune-up fight for Liddell to set up a bout with Pride killer Wanderlei Silva who recently signed with the UFC.

Both of these Light-Heavyweights are tough S.O.B’s but I get the feeling that Jardine is in over his head in this one and that the Chuck Liddell -450 odds at Bodog are right on the money. I would have to give Jardine a slight advantage in the ground game but I see this fight being held toe-to-toe with Jardine’s defensive liabilities being his undoing.

I have heard reports that Liddell had been doing some partying before the Rampage fight and if he did the same against Keith he could be in for a surprise, but based on Chuck’s track record after losses I have to believe that he came into this fight at 100% If Jardine lands a lucky one however all of Liddell’s popularity and his big fight with Silva can be kissed goodbye but I don’t see that happening.
