UFC 121: Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez Betting Odds

by Matt Foust on Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

UFC 121 Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez Betting Odds: UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar will put his title on the line tonight against top challenger Cain Velasquez at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The two fighters are headlining this evening's UFC 121, which also features a welterweight battle between former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields and Martin Kampmann, a light heavyweight skirmish pairing former training partners Tito Ortiz and Matt Hamill, and a heavyweight clash between Gabriel Gonzaga and TUF finalist Brendan Schuab. UFC 121 Betting Odds at online sportsbook BetUS.com have Lesnar listed as a -145 moneyline favorite to successfully defend his belt against the undefeated Velasquez.

According to Brock Lesnar, there will be no drama tonight between he and Cain Velasquez. Fan fights should simply tune in UFC 121: Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez Betting Oddsto watch the former Minnesota wrestler pummel the smaller but quicker American Kickboxing Academy fighter.

"Cain Velasquez is undefeated and he's a legitimate number one contender, but he's not the guy that is going to take my UFC heavyweight title," Lesnar said. "It's not his time; it's my time. On October 23rd, I'll be walking out of the Octagon with my hand raised and the belt around my waist. Cain will be leaving with his first loss. It's as simple as that."

There you have it MMA fans, as succinct and polite as Lesnar knows how to be. However, many are anticipating Velasquez to be the victor this evening, despite the significant size advantage he yields to the champ.

Several people saw Lesnar as human for the first time when he stepped into the Octagon against Shane Carwin in July. Yes, Lesnar earned a second round submission to retain his belt, but he barely survived the first round as the heavy handed Carwin nearly drew a stoppage from referee Jake Rosenthal.

Velasquez, who destroyed Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira with a first round KO in February, also comes from a wrestling background, having earned All-American honors at Arizona State and a junior college national championship at Iowa Central Community College. It is not his skills on the mat that have many convinced he can beat Lesnar, rather it is his combination of speed and power.

No one will contend that Velasquez can throw a harder punch than Carwin; however, he might be able to throw two punches in the amount of time it takes Carwin to throw one. That kind of speed could pose a big problem for Lesnar, especially if the fight goes beyond three rounds. And Velasquez will not gas like Carwin did, which makes tonight's duel much more than a foregone conclusion.
