UFC 122 Betting Odds

by Matt Foust on Saturday, November 13th, 2010

UFC 122 Betting Odds: UFC 122 will get underway about three hours from now at the Konig Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen, Germany. The 11 fight card, which will air on Spike TV at 9:00pm ET tonight, features a battle between top middleweights Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami as they vie for a shot at the championship belt. UFC 122 Betting Odds at online bookmaker BetUS.com have Marquardt listed as a -220 moneyline favorite to take out Okami.

Yushin Okami has been one of the most impressive Japanese fighters to ever participate in the UFC, UFC 122 Betting Oddscompiling a 9-2 record inside the Octagon. Okami lost to both Chael Sonnen and Rich Franklin, but he has taken out a number of tough competitors, including Alan Belcher, Lucio Linhares, and the late Evan Tanner.

The 29 year old Okami, who stands 6' 2", last fought in August when he earned a split decision victory over wrestler extraordinaire Mark Munoz. While Okami had difficulty executing an offensive game plan against the aggressive Munoz, his counter fighting and take down defense were exceptional. Munoz repeatedly shot in on Okami, but found himself under the latter's sprawl on each occasion.

Nate Marquardt will present an entirely different kind of fight this evening, but Okami has displayed the kind of diversified skill set it takes to succeed at the upper levels of any division.

Marquardt, who is seeking his second shot at the middleweight title, comes into today's skirmish with a 33-9-2 overall record and an 8-3 UFC tally. The 31 year old Marquardt fought Brazilian submission master Rousimar Palhares less than two months ago, but he scored a TKO midway through the first round.

Marquardt is primarily known for his superior standup skills, but he is an excellent all-around fighter who is capable in the clinch as well as on the ground. The Colorado resident is a seven time King of Pancrase winner and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt.

Marquardt has faced the best fighters in the middleweight division, beating the likes of Wilson Gouveia, Demian Maia, and Martin Kampmann. His only losses have come at the hands of Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen, and Thales Leites (a ridiculous split decision loss).
