UFC 106: Tito Ortiz vs Forrest Griffin Odds, Picks & Predictions

by Matt Foust on Saturday, November 21st, 2009

The UFC returns to action tonight with UFC 106 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Pay-Per-View event, which is scheduled to get underway at 10pm ET at the Mandalay Events Center, features a 10 fight card that is headlined by a non-title rematch between light heavyweights Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin. MMA odds makers at online sportsbook BetUS.com have installed the original Ultimate Fighter winner, Griffin, as a slight -135 moneyline favorite in their UFC 106: Tito Ortiz vs Forrest Griffin Odds, Picks & Predictions.

Forrest Griffin, who holds a professional MMA record of 16-6, comes into this fight seeking not only revenge, but also some UFC 106: Tito Ortiz vs Forrest Griffin Odds, Picks & Predictionscareer resurrection. The 6'3" Columbus, Ohio native has dropped his last two fights and he was utterly embarrassed the last time he stepped into the Octagon. Middleweight champion Anderson Silva toyed with Griffin at UFC 101 in August of this year before knocking him out at 3:23 into round one.

That performance, coupled with Griffin's split decision loss to Ortiz back in April of 2006, has the fighter chomping at the bit for this evening's battle.

"I'm coming off being knocked out the last two fights in a row," Griffin said. "I'd be motivated for any fight but Tito is a real good opponent for me because you really want to beat Tito. You just do. Everything about him you want to shut him up a little bit. I want to settle the score with [him]."

As for Ortiz, he has a little bit of proving to do as well. The 34 year old last fought in May of 2008 when he suffered a unanimous decision loss to current light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida. Prior to that bout, the man known as the Huntington Beach Bad Boy fought to a draw with Rashad Evans at UFC 73 and he was on the wrong end of a TKO against Chuck Liddell at UFC 66. He last tasted victory in October, 2006 when he scored a knock out win over Ken Shamrock.

Despite his recent track record, Ortiz is confident he can get the better of Griffin again.

"I respect him as a fighter and it's going to come down to a grueling fight," Ortiz said. "We'll see if he can handle the ground and pound of Tito Ortiz and the pressure I'm gonna put on him."
