Kenny Florian vs Clay Guida UFC 107 Odds, Picks & Predictions

by Matt Foust on Friday, December 11th, 2009

UFC 107 Odds, Picks & Predictions: UFC 107 will take place at 10:00pm ET tomorrow night at the FedEX Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. The 11 fight card is headlined by a battle for the lightweight title between current champion BJ Penn and skilled challenger Diego Sanchez. Also on the card is another great lightweight clash between top contenders Kenny Florian and Clay Guida. UFC 107 Odds, Picks & Predictions at Sportsbook.com have Florian listed as a -200 moneyline favorite to take out the high energy Guida.

Kenny Florian had his shot at lightweight master BJ Penn in August, but the Massachusetts native came up short as Penn Kenny Florian vs Clay Guida UFC 107 Odds, Picks & Predictionssuccesfully defended his belt with a fourth round choke submission. The road back to Penn starts tomorrow night for the 33 year old fighter with a scrap against the always tough Clay Guida. Florian is no stranger to dangerous competition, though, having beaten the likes of Joe Lauzon, Roger Huerta, and Joe Stevenson in his lead up to "The Prodigy."

Florian, who possesses a 13-4 MMA record, won six straight fights prior to his shot at the belt and he has never lost back-to-back fights since joining the UFC in 2005. The gangly jiu-jitsu specialist, however, knows that disposing of Guida will be no easy task.

"Clay is a fighter I admire for his heart, tenacity, hard work and skills," Florian said. "On fight night, I have a job to do though and I have to take him out. I'm looking forward to testing my skills against a gamer like Guida."

Clay Guida, like Florian, has had a great deal of success inside the Octagon, but, despite putting together a 25-7 record, he has never had a shot at the championship. That could change if the Illinois native is able to get past Florian in Memphis tomorrow.

Guida is coming off a loss, his first since falling to Roger Huerta in December of 2007. The man dubbed "The Carpenter", in reference to his old line of work and tremendous work ethic, had a three fight win streak snapped in June, losing via split decision to Diego Sanchez.

The 28 year old desperately needs a win against Florian to get back in the title picture and establish himself as a potential candidate to take out the winner between Penn and Sanchez.

"I am very excited to get back in the lightweight title picture by competing against such a talented fighter in Kenny Florian," Guida said. "I asked for this fight because I know a victory over Kenny will put me in the driver's seat once again. I'm ready to seperate myself from the pack."
