UFC 97 Chuck Liddell vs Mauricio Rua PredictionUFC legend and former UFC light heavyweight Champion Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell squares off against Brazilian superstar Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, April 18, at UFC 97 in Montreal, Canada. This bout promises to be one of the most explosive bouts of 2009, but if it’s a loss for the Iceman his UFC career is over. UFC oddsmakers at BetUS.com have Chuck Liddell as -200 moneyline fav over Mauricio Rua who is listed as +150 underdogChuck Liddell vs Mauricio Rua Prediction in now at BetUS.com

Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell has lost three of his last four fights as one of the most prolific strikers, and fan favs, has to put up or shut up. Dana White said recently “If Chuck doesn’t win, I will force him to retire.” Dana and Chuck have been friends since the start of UFC and Dana doesn’t want to see Chuck get hurt.  Liddell fought "Sugar" Rashad Evans at UFC 88. At 1:51 of the second round, Evans connected with an overhand right, Liddell's trademark punch, resulting in the former champion unconscious on his stomach. Chuck had simultaneously thrown a right uppercut, missing Evans' face and instead making contact with the armpit. The knockout was dubbed "knockout of the year." His only win in his last four fights was at UFC 79 against Wanderlei Silva. Liddell defeated Silva via unanimous decision to what many fans and MMA critics called the best fight of the year. Both fighters were awarded "fight of the night" honors. His next loss was at the hands of Keith Jardine at UFC 76. Liddell lost a split decision to  Jardine, for his first consecutive losses of his career. Following the fight, UFC president Dana White stated, "The Chuck Liddell that I saw fight didn't look like the Chuck Liddell that loves to fight". Chuck lost his belt after seven consecutive wins at UFC 71 against Clinton Jackson. Liddell was knocked down by a Right Hook less than two minutes into round 1 and was subsequently unable to defend himself against Jackson's strikes on the ground, resulting in a TKO victory for Rampage. Chuck’s getting old and he has a weak chin, it’s not looking good.

Mauricio Rua is known for his aggressive fighting style, for his extreme versatility and his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He has one loss in his last six fights with his most recent win over Mark Coleman at UFC 93. Shogun defeated Coleman via TKO with 24 seconds left in the 3rd round. In the fight both fighters were tired and fought most of the fight with their hands down and finally Shogun was able to take advantage and finish the fight. After the fight he was criticized for not destroying the 44 year old, who hadn’t fought in two years, quicker. His only loss in six fights came from Forrest Griffin at UFC 76. Shogun was considered a heavy favorite to win. Rua and Griffin battled in a close fight, with Rua having trouble with the larger Griffin. However, after Rua became exhausted during the second round, he was unable to keep pace against Griffin and repeatedly gave up his back while scrambling on the ground. With only 15 seconds remaining in the fight Griffin locked in a rear naked choke, forcing Rua to tap out. It seems Rua is out of shape and can’t go the distance. This might be good for Chuck!

UFC 97 Anderson Silva vs Thales Leites Prediction PDF Print E-mail

UFC 97 Anderson Silva vs Thales Leites Prediction UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva returns to the Octago on Saturday, April 18th to defend his crown against the number one contender Thales Leites in the main event of UFC 97. The pound for pound king has already defended his title more times than anyone in UFC middleweight history and will battle Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Leites,  winner of five in a row. UFC oddsmakers at SBGglobal.com have Anderson Silva as -500 moneyline fav over Thales Leites who is listed as a +350 underdog. Be sure to get your UFC 97 vAnderson Silva vs Thales Leites Prediction in now at SBGglobal.com

Anderson “The Spider” Silva has put his belt on the line five times and he’s been five times successful in keeping it. He’s 8-0 overall record say’s it all. His last fight, at UFC 90 against Patrick Cote, was his only fight to go into the third round; he has two wins by KO, four by TKO and two by submission. But his win didn’t come in dominating fashion; he was highly criticized for seemingly avoiding contact during the bout with Cote. Dana White criticized Silva, saying: "I didn't understand Silva's tactics... It wasn't the Anderson Silva I've been watching the last two years." Silva said in the post-fight news conference: "There are many people saying I was disrespecting Cote, but this is absolutely not true. My game plan since the beginning was fight five rounds, inducing him to commit mistakes and capitalize on that during the first three rounds and look for the knockout during the fourth and fifth rounds. It was working, and the biggest proof of that is that I almost didn’t waste any blows. I connected with a couple of good punches and knees, but unfortunately he got hurt and the fight was over. This is not my fault." Silva is STILL pound for pound the best fighter in the UFC and maybe the world.

His opponent Thales Leites has an overall MMA record of 14-1-0 and is 5-0 in his last five fights. He has two wins by KO and eight wins by submission. He hasn’t had any fights against fighters of Silva’s caliber. His most recent fight was at UFC 90. On the undercard of UFC 90 Leites was able to earn a rear naked choke submission victory over dangerous striker Drew McFedries. This win would prove to be valuable as Leites was able to earn number one contendership to the UFC middleweight title against current champion Anderson Silva. Leites is a Brazilian mixed martial artist who has a world class ground game.

UFC 96 Quinton Jackson vs Keith Jardine PredictionFormer UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson looks to move one step closer to regaining his title when he takes on the man who beat Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin, Keith "The Dean of Mean" Jardine. UFC 96: Jackson vs Jardine kicksoff, Saturday March 7, at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. UFC oddsmakers at BetUS.com have Quinton Jackson as -350 moneyline fav over Keith Jardine who is listed as +250 underdog. Get your UFC 96 Quinton Jackson vs Keith Jardine Prediction in now at BetUS.com

Quinton Jackson’s last fight, at UFC 92, would be against Wanderlei Silva, the only man to beat Jackson twice.
Jackson avenged his previous defeats by knocking Silva out with a vicious left hook in the first round. Quinton previously lost the belt to Forrest Griffin, at UFC 86, after losing by Unanimous Decision. It was a five round battle that clearly had Griffin as the winner. Ten days after his loss, to Forrset Griffin, Jackson was arrested and booked on suspicion of felony reckless driving, and felony hit and run after striking several vehicles. He led pursuing officers on a chase while driving on the wrong side of the street and on city sidewalks in his lifted Ford F-350 with his picture painted on the side. During the chase one of the tires blew out on his truck and he continued to flee while driving on his rims and showering the street with sparks. The day before his arrest, Jackson gave an interview and said he had become depressed after his recent loss by decision to Forrest Griffin. If convicted, Jackson could face up to 3 years in prison, he will not be sentenced until January 7, 2010. Jackson has a professional record of 29 wins with 7 losses; he has 14 wins by KO and 7 by submission. Jackson is ranked as the number #3 light heavyweight in the world. Quinton is a great fighter with superb strength, wresting skills and slamming ability.

Keith Jardine has secured victories over former UFC Light Heavyweight Champions Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin, as well as a victory over Brandon Vera. At UFC 66, Jardine scored a TKO victory in the first round over winner of Forrest Griffin. Jardine's next fight was against UFC newcomer Houston Alexander at UFC 71. After having complained about having to face an unknown fighter when he felt he deserved a more high profile match, Jardine was brutally knocked out 48 seconds into the first round by Alexander. After his loss Jardine took on former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Chuck Liddell, at UFC 76, and he won by Unanimous Decision after three rounds of pounding action. He was considered one of the competitive candidates challenging the UFC light heavyweight championship. However, at the fight against the former Pride middleweight champion Wanderlei Silva, at UFC 84, Jardine lost by knockout due to punches at 36 seconds in round one. Jardine had to be helped up after the fight and was sent to the local hospital for observation. Jardine won a split decision victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 89. It appeared in the midst of the second round Jardine had damaged his knee from a front kick from Vera. However in the post fight interview it was confirmed that the injury was minor.

UFC 96 Fight Odds:
Gabriel Gonzaga (-170) vs Shane Carwin (+140)
Mark Munoz (+140) vs Matt Hamill (-170)
Michael Patt (+450) vs Brandon Vera (-600)
Matt Brown (+110) vs Pete Sell (-140)
Jim Miller (+140) vs Gray Maynard (-170)
Jason Day (+160) vs Kendall Grove (-200)
