Round by round UFC 73 results for the Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans fight. The fight ended in a Unanimous Draw after Tito Ortiz lost 1 point in the second round for holding the fence. The deduct kept the fight out of Ortiz’s victory column. Point-Spreads.com learned that late money came in on Tito Ortiz pushing his odds from -115 to EVEN money at Bodog.com right before the fight started.“Giving someone their first loss is always nice,” stated Tito Ortiz before the fight. “It is sweet bliss.” Ortiz came out to a song by Eminem holding his two sided flag with his porno star girlfriend Jenna Jameson no where to be found. He likes to get into his opponents head and believes it is very important to win the psychological war before the fight even starts. The problem with that strategy is that Ortiz awoken Rashad Evans for the biggest fight of his young career. After the fight, Tito Ortiz told Rogan he believed he won and offered to fight Rashad Evans again. He went on to tell everyone he would be taking his private jet to Las Vegas tomorrow to party at Body English at the Hard Rock. Rashad Evans, the wrestler for Michigan State came out to the octagon bouncing around to some hip hop music. He looked very loose. “Tito is a one trick pony,” stated Rashad before the fight. After the fight, Evans pleaded with Dana White to make the rematch happen. Round 1 Tito opened with a head kick that missed then went for a take down shoot and slammed Evans to his back and against the cage. Ortiz’s head kick was explosive and unexpected showing Evans that he was loose and ready to brawl. Evans was able to get off the ground and both men traded blows face to face but Ortiz quickly grabbed Rashad up against the cage. John McCarty stopped the action for about 30 seconds to wash out Evans mouth piece that was dislodged. Tito landed tons of leg kicks and shot in and the two men locked up like two rams. Ortiz tried to kick Evan stomach but hit Rashad below the belt. Evans got a good strike on Tito’s face on a separation and was able to jab his thumb nail under Tito’s right eye to create a cut. Evans was able to defend a high single leg take down at the close of the round. Winner of the Round: Ortiz Round 2 For the first minute of this round the two fighters shadow danced each other until Evans finally tried a tentative take down that Tito defended. The men continued to shadow dance in the center of the ring for another full minute missing each other in all exchanges. Evans finally put Tito against the cage and landed a few elbows. Tito’s cut started to bleed. Big John McCarthy warned Ortiz from grabbing the fence to prevent a take down telling the fighter he will instruct the judges to take a point away the next time he does it. Tito slammed Evans to the ground with 1 minute left but Rashad countered. Tito grabbed the fence and was deducted a point. Tito got Evans in a guillotine and almost was able to choke out Rashad but the round ended to save him. Winner of the Round: EVEN due to the 1 point deduction Round 3 Tito started the round at a slower pace. The two men shadow danced with each other for the first 1:15 minutes of the round until Ortiz got a take down. Tito had Evans against the cage. Tito attempted a full mount, but Evans was able to fend it off. Tito is relentless on the take down and Evans was just as relentless to prevent it. McCarty had to separate the fighters with two minutes left in the fight because they were stationary for so long. Tito was a little slow as blood dripped from his cut all over the right side of his face. With a minute left both fighters exchanged punches toe to toe. Tito tried a take down but Evans prevented it and drove him back against the cage. Evans body slammed Tito with a big take down in the finals seconds of the fight to finish the round strong.
