Quite possibly the most impressive fight card in the UFC’s history will take place this Saturday from Arco Arena in California for UFC 73: Stacked. In total, nine fights are scheduled including two championship bouts. Lightweight champ Sean Sherk will put his belt on the line for the first time since winning the belt way back in October. The muscle-bound lightweight will have his hands full against veteran Hermes Franca and his excellent jiu-jitsu skills. With Franca’s submission prowess coupled with Sherk’s wrestling skills, this bout will surely go to the mat where it will come down to Franca’s wide array of submission’s against Sherk’s powerful ground and pound style. In the evening’s headliner, striking extraordinaire Anderson Silva will defend his middleweight title against the well rounded Nate Marquardt. The challenger is a defensive specialist who will look to frustrate Silva while he strategically picks his spots. If he decides to just let his fists fly against the champ, he could find himself in trouble very quickly. Silva is considered one of the most devasting pound for pund strikers in the UFC today. If you have doubts about this, just find the video of what he did to Rich Franklin’s nose. Silva also has a background in jiu-jitsu, so don’t be surprised if he attempts to take this one to the mat.
Even though the two previously mentioned fights are of championship caliber, the fight which is getting the most action at Sportsbook.com is the Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans bout. Behind his excellent wrestling and takedown skills, Evans has a flawless 16-0 MMA record and is an up and coming star in the UFC. Of course, everyone in the MMA community is well aware of the talented and equally controversial Ortiz. The former champion has been doing his best in hyping up this fight. Most recently he referred to his Evans as a “nappy headed hoe”. This bout also will most likely end up on the mat sooner than later although each fighter is more than capable of delivering powerful blows while standing. Although Ortiz opened as a favorite, the betting public has been backing Evans at Sportsbook.com. So much money has been put on Evans that the odds are currently -115 for both fighters. Don’t miss out in cashing in on the most impressive UFC card in MMA history. Sportsbook.com is the first online sports book to offer odds and sponsor the UFC.
