Bode Miller (USA) – hasn't won a super-G in more than three years, but he has won the season-long World Cup title in the discipline twice and also claimed gold at the 2005 worlds. Miller spent Wednesday watching fellow countryman Lindsey Vonn and Julia Mancuso claim gold and silver in the Olympic downhill. "He was really impressed with Julia's skiing. He couldn't stop talking about how inspiring the race was." Miller is fresh off a bronze medal in the Men’s Downhill on Monday, snapping a medal drought of three consecutive major championships. "The last few days he's taken some time to rest and recover and I think he's fired up to go," Rearick said. "He wants to put down another inspiring run and the course set looks good and we're excited to race tomorrow."
Michael Walchhofer (AT) – leads this season's World Cup super-G standings. He won silver at the 2006 Olympic games and silver in 2005 at the World Championships. After claiming 14 Alpine medals in Turin four years ago, Austria's "Wunderteam" has only Elisabeth Görgl’s downhill bronze to hold up so far at Whistler. Austrians have also finished fourth in each of the opening three races. Michael Walchhofer is listed as +400 moneyline underdog to win gold.
Aksel Lund Svindal (NOR) – is second World Cup super-G standings. He started this season slowly, but broke through with a win in this event at Val Gardena in December, and has the tools to succeed. Svindal won the silver medal in the 2010 Winter Olympics Downhill competition. He finished seconds behind the winner, Didier Defago (Switzerland), and 0.02 seconds ahead of bronze medalist Bode Miller. Svindal's victory won Norway its 100th silver medal at the Winter Olympic Games. This makes Norway the first ever nation to win 100 silver medals at the Winter Olympics. Aksel Lund Svindal is listed as +500 moneyline underdog to win gold.
