Martins Dukurs (LAT) – didn't post the fastest time in any of the six training sessions, but he saved his best for when it counted, posting the fastest first run Thursday night (52.32 seconds) before doing it again in the second (52.59). Dukurs is the overall World Cup points champion and a model of consistency. He's made it clear that waiting for him to make a mistake is a fool's game.
Jon Montgomery (CAN) – was second both times and happy to be as close as he was to Dukurs. "Martins is sliding like the champ he is and he's that for a reason," Montgomery said. "My goal was to have four solid runs here and if Martins beats me he deserves it big time." Montgomery insisted his game plan would remain unchanged for Friday's final runs – be prepared, be good, be "dialed in on every corner." He finished second overall for the 2007-8 Skeleton World Cup in the mens event. He also took gold at Whistler's Olympic test event in February 2010. Jon Montgomery is listed at 9/4 odds to win gold.
