Kath Liebert First Women to Win Over 1 Million Playing PokerKathleen H. Liebert, commonly known as Kath Liebert , was born on October 1, 1967 in Nashville, Tennessee.  She is the first woman to ever win a tournament with a first prize of $1,000,000.  She grew up on Long Island in New York, and attended Maris College in Poughkeepsie, where she earned a bachelors degree in Business and Finance.  She was subsequently hired by Dun & Bradstreet, but later made the decision to leave, citing her unhappiness with corporate life.  Wise and successful stock investments allowed her to quit her job and travel the country. Liebert began her professional poker career as a prop player in Colorado.  She subsequently went on to enter various tournaments, and won the first Party Poker million event in 2002.  Throughout her career, she has made several final tables in the World Poker Tour, including a third place finish in the 2005 Borgata Poker Open which made her the highest finishing woman on the World Poker Tour at that time.

Liebert also appeared on the series Poker Royale: Battle of The Sexes, which she also won.  After being eliminated from the World Speed Poker open in London in September of 2005, she provided commentary on the final, alongside Gary Jones.

She continues to hone her craft and use her strategy to win various games and tournaments in a sport where women are really breaking through, and are able to compete on an equal basis with men.  Her background in business and finance has served her well in this profession, and has, perhaps, given her a heads-up in certain situations.  She continues to make wise investments.

As of 2007, Liebert has won a World Series of Poker bracelet, and over $3,000,000 in live tournament winnings.  She has won more prize money in open field tournaments than any other woman in poker history to date.  She now resides I Las Vegas, Nevada and Downey, California.
