High Stakes player Sam Farha exits World Series of Poker Main EventFans watching the World Series of Poker Main Event Day 1b saw high stakes poker player Sam Farha get knocked out about mid evening. Sportsbook.com had given Sam Farha +400 odds to win the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event.

Ihsan "Sam" Farha was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1959 and now lives in Houston, Texas. He is best known for his 2nd place finish in the 2003 World Series of Poker main event where he won $1.3 million.
Farha has secured 2 WSOP bracelets; one in 1996, when he took the title and $145,000 in $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha and the 2nd bracelet came along a decade later, in 2006, when he won more than $398,000 and the title in the $5,000 Pot Limit Omaha 8/b. He also finished in the money in the 2005 World Series of Poker main event.

Farha's family moved to Wichita, Kansas when he was a teen-ager and he eventually earned a degree in Business Administration at the University of Kansas. Afterwards, he moved to Houston, Texas to work with his brother and he began playing poker in Houston. By 1990, he had quit his job to play poker full time.

Farha is currently appearing on the 3rd season of High Stakes Poker, shown on GSN. He also is working on a book tentatively titled, "Luck is not Enough" and plays himself in the 2007 movie "Lucky You."

He has been referred to as the "Humphrey Bogart of Poker" because he often plays poker with an unlit cigarette dangling from his lips. In fact, Farha will change cigarettes if he is on a losing streak so that he can get rid of the "unlucky" one.

Sam Farha's total live tournament winnings exceeded $2 million as of 2006 although he seems to prefer cash games over tournaments.
