Phil Hellmuth won his record setting 11th World Series of Poker bracelet to take sole possession of bragging rights being the player with the most WSOP bracelets. Hellmuth captured Event #15 title for the $1,500 No Limit Hold’Em to pass legends Johnny Chan and Doyle Brunson. Sportsbook.com has Phil Hellmuth at 7-2 odds to win more money at the 2007 WSOP Main Event then any other past winner. The Poker Brat Phil Hellmuth was born in Madison, Wisconsin in 1464. Johnny Chan broke his winning streak in the World Series of Poker Tournament, falling second to none other than Hellmuth. What’s particularly amazing about Phil is that at the tender age of 24 he won the WOSP Main Event – proving to be the youngest poker player to do so. Hellmuth has three years of college behind him, but he dropped out to take up a career as a professional poker player. Phil Hellmuth lives in Palo Alto, California, is married and has two sons. He is a writer, having written a number of widely read books on the art of poker including Bad Beats and Lucky Draws, Play Poker like the Pros, and The Greatest Poker Hands ever Played. He has also written for Card Player Magazine and has created a video poker playing instructional course entitled Phil Hellmuth's Million Dollar Poker Secrets. Hellmuth’s absolute favorite poker game is Texas Holdem and his sole goal is to be the very best poker player in existence. Hellmuth also claims an extreme admiration of Johnny Chan and Annie Duke. He has had over 57 money finishes and has earned 11 World Series of Poker bracelets. Phil Helmuth is the former winner of the inaugural National Heads-Up Poker Championship in 2005, and he is currently the commentator for the Celebrity Poker Showdown. Helmuth’s winnings are near the 9 million mark, having won $8,800,000 million to date not including his 2007 WSOP cashes. Sportsbook.com has posted betting odds on which previous WSOP Champion will be the highest money finisher based on prize money in the World Series of Poker Main Event: Phil Hellmuth: 7-2 Johnny Chan: 4-1 Doyle Brunson: 4-1 Erik Siedel: 4-1 Men Nguyen: 4-1 TJ Coutier: 4-1 |
