WSOP 2007: Shannon Elizabeth looks to turn heads at the RioActress and poker enthusiast Shannon Elizabeth is hoping to become the first female to win the WSOP. Shannon was born on September 7th, 1973 in Houston, Texas. She was raised in Waco, Texas, and became interested in playing professional tennis at an early age. While in high school, she played often, but quickly discarded her aspirations and worked, instead as a model in Japan for a brief stint.


Shannon Elizabeth soon began her career in acting, and landed roles in several low budget films before playing her most notable role as the sexy foreign exchange student Nadia in the 1999 film American Pie. She appeared in several subsequent Hollywood films, including Scary Movie and Tomcats. She starred in the UPN show Cuts until it cancellation in 2006.

She began playing poker, and often describes it as her second career. Shannon has been noted as one of the leading celebrity poker players, and has contributed her skills to various charity poker events including Bodog Salutes the Troops where she helped raise money for the Fisher House with Bodog.com Founder Calvin Ayre.


Her home away from home is Las Vegas where she visits around three times each month to participate in poker games with some of the top players in the United States. Shannon Elizabeth advanced past day 1 in the Main Event of the 2005 World Series of Poker, and won a special tournament celebrating a new poker room at Caesars Palace in January 2006. In order to do this, she had to beat out 83 celebrity and professional players to stake her claim.
 
Shannon Elizabeth has since continued playing in various other poker events, and has increased her earnings dramatically, ranking her right up there with the top players in the country. She continues her career in poker, and is quickly gaining respect in the profession. She continues to be garner success in both careers, and has made a name for herself in two very distinctive professions, proving once and for all, that she isn’t going anywhere any time soon.
