The Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign was cocky and got caught with their pants down in New Hampshire, despite winning with 39% of the vote. They campaign wrongfully assumed they had the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination all wrapped up and were caught off guard after losing to Barack Obama in the Iowa Caucus. Sportsbook.com currently has Hillary Clinton listed at 5 to 7 odds (Bet $7.00 to win $5.00 dollars) to secure the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination. While the Clinton campaign was able to secure the win in New Hampshire, they were not prepared for it despite knowing the primary schedule for 6 months. The self proclaimed "Comeback Kid" Bill Clinton never ran as a favorite, only as an underdog but before his wife secured victory in New Hampshire, President Clinton was complaining to everyone that would listen how Hillary Clinton was being cheated by the institution of voting. President Clinton was blaming the media for not properly vetting Barack Obama after the Illinois Senator secured the victory in Iowa. Then President Clinton went on to say that New Hampshire was holding the primary too early which was preventing the candidates from having enough time to campaign and in essence cheating the New Hampshire voters. By attacking Barack Obama, President Clinton has inadvertently made Obama look Presidential. Obama received 36% of the vote and was projected to crush Clinton before the New Hampshire Primary. Some political pundits actually gave Barack Obama the victory before the votes were counted but that proved not to be the case. Republican Presidential Candidate secured many independent New Hampshire voters that would have gone into the Obama camp hurting his chances to beat Clinton. Sportsbook.com has Barack Obama listed at 11 to 10 odds (Bet $10 to win $11 dollars) to secure the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination. Presidential hopeful John Edwards was hoping for a victory in New Hampshire but came up short. Edwards stayed in the same hotel that he stayed in back in 2000 when he won the New Hampshire Primary. It turns out that he did not have the same luck this time around, placing third with only 17% of the votes in 2008. The longer that John Edwards stays in the race, the more he takes away from ant-Hillary votes from Barack Obama. Edwards strategy is to hope that either Clinton or Obama make a mistake and then he will inherit the #2 spot in the race. Sportsbook.com has John Edwards at 10 to 1 odds (Bet $1 dollar to win $10 dollars) to secure the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination. The three biggest issues to Democrats are are the Economy, War & Health Care with an NBC News NH Exit Poll revealing that 93% of Democrats were unhappy with the job President George W. Bush has done as Command in Chief. The Nevada Democratic Presidential Debate will take place on January 15th, 9:00 PM EST on MSNBC. Sportsbook.com has posted political betting odds on who will secure the 2008 Democratic Nomination for President: Barack Obama: 11 – 10 Bill Richardson: 40 – 1 Dennis Kucinich: 100 – 1 Hillary Clinton: 5 – 7 John Edwards: 10 – 1 Mike Gravel: 100 - 1 |
