Nevada Democratic Debate: Martin Luther King's message invoked by Candidates on his 79th BirthdayBrian Williams started the Nevada Democratic Primary by acknowledging today is Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday, but the official national holiday will be celebrated on Monday January 21st, 2008.  The very thing that Dr. Martin Luther King struggled for equality was on display as a female and African American debated for their party's Presidential nomination.  Sportsbook.com have New York Senator Hillary Clinton as a 20 to 33 odds to become the Democratic Party's 2008 Presidential Nominee.

For the most part the threesome of Clinton, Edwards and Obama were cordial to each other throughout the night after a “race scandal” broke out earlier in the week between the Obama and Clinton campaigns.  John Edwards has wanted to stay above the fray and was hoping he could play that role in the media, but both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton did not take the bait after calling a truce.

"We can't solve these challenges unless we can come together as a people" stated Illinois Senator Barack Obama when asked about race's role in politics in the Nevada Democratic Debate.  A heckler started screaming about all of the race based questions, a clear jab that the audience wanted the debate to stay out of the race game.

"The system in Washington is broken," stated John Edwards. "Get all the troops out within one year....No permanent bases in Iraqi."

If Clinton can win the Iraqi debate over Obama and Edwards, she can move on to her husbands economic record while he was President of the United States in the boom years of the 1990’s.  "Who will be ready on day one to step in as President?" asked Hillary Clinton.  "President Bush is over in Saudi Arabia begging the Royals to reduce the cost of oil.  How pathetic!"  Hillary made President George W. Bush look pathetic tonight over his current foreign policy trip over in the Middle East this week.  Hillary Clinton looked Presidential when she finally committed to troop reductions “As soon as I become president I would start withdrawing troops within 60 days.”

Hillary brought up the point that terrorists attacked the United Kingdom to test the resolve of newly appointed British Prime Minister Gordon Brown at the beginning of his tenure.  Clinton’s experience gives her an edge in the eyes of voters looking for someone capable of fighting the war on terror.

"My greatest strength is getting people together" stated Barack Obama and when asked to comment on his greatest weakness stated he "needs to have good people in place to run my operations."

“Jobs are leave and costs are going up,” stated John Edwards.  “ Middle incomes are not going up.  The question is, what do we do about it?  We do need Universal Health Care.....Minimum Wager should be at least $9.00 dollars an hour.”

Anti-War Democratic Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich was a no show at the Nevada Democratic Debate tonight after the Nevada Supreme Court ruled that MSNBC was not required to include the Ohio Congressman in the Democratic Debate.  An attorney for Dennis Kucinich said the candidate’s absence on the debate stage “would be detrimental to voters.”

Illinois Senator Barack Obama has won the endorsement of Nevada's largest newspaper the Las Vegas Review Journal but does not have any key Hispanic endorsements.  Meanwhile Presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton received the support of Ugly Betty Star America Ferrera to help shore up the Latino vote in the Nevada Democratic Primary.

Sportsbook.com has posted political betting odds on which Democratic Candidate will become the Democratic Presidential Nominee:

Hillary Clinton: 20/33

Barack Obama: 11/10

John Edwards: 30/1
