Presidential Betting Odds: Ron Paul 100 to 1 long shot against McBush and Obama

by Thomas Jensen on Thursday, June 12th, 2008

It has been a while since we have heard anything from Ron Paul or his supporters due to the media saturation of the hard fought and drawn out fight that was going on for the 2008 Democratic Presidential Nomination between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.  Barack Obama won the slugfest and has turned his sights on presumptive Republican Presidential Nominee John McCain. Even though McBush possesses an overwhelming amount of delegates, Ron Paul is still in it folks and the oddsmakers at Sportsbook.com still have Presidential Betting Odds on Ron Paul listed at 100 to 1.

Even though Ron Paul did not attain a speaking role at the Republican National Convention, he will be speaking in Minnesota the same week at his own convention. Tentatively arranged to be held at University of Minnesota's large arena with a myriad of guests and entertainment, Ron Paul is having his own bash.

"This isn't a protest," said Jesse Benton, the libertarian-leaning Republican's spokesman. "This is a celebration of limited government and Republican principles."

The main drive of the convention isn't the entertainers but yet the true values of the original Republican party which Ron Paul holds and demonstrates in his platform. Jesse Benton also said that the true intent of the convention is to send the GOP a message about the level of support for Mr. Paul's ideas.

Ron Paul received a total of over 45,000 votes in the final three Republican presidential primaries on June 3 with his strongest showing in Montana with 22% of the vote followed by 17 percent in South Dakota and 14 percent in New Mexico respectively. To date, Dr. Paul has received well over one million votes in Republican presidential contests.  His supports show no sign of letting up either as they are throwing the Ron Paul Freedom Rally and Ice Cream Social at the Texas GOP Convention Hilton America’s Grand Ballroom at 1600 Lamar, Houston, Texas 77010 between 9:00 – 11:00 PM CT on June 12th, 2008.

Many call Paul a cultural phenomenon and an Internet sensation but Paul actually has a ground game and is the only Republican Presidential Candidate that can beat Barack Obama on the issues. Whether it be to abolish the IRS or put an end to this avoidable war, they are all winning policies.  Even though he did not do as well as he had hoped against McCain in the primaries, he still was successful in pulling in over a million votes. Paul's supporters are registering to become GOP delegates, the only vote that matters at this point, gain some of the pledged delegates and trying to lock out McCain of a clean nomination.

Sportsbook.com have the following Presidential Betting Odds posted:

Barack Obama 1 to 2

John McCain (McBush): 3 to 2

Ron Paul: 100 to 1
