Joe Lieberman seems to be a hot name among republicans on the short list of John McCain’s prospective vice presidential candidates. With the Republican National Convention less than three weeks away, (Sept. 1-4 in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn.) the game of vice presidential betting has begun. Lieberman is currently listed at Bodog as a 15/1 odds longshot to join the GOP ticket, but with all the banter, we [Point-Spreads.com] expect Lieberman’s odds to improve soon.

Lieberman, who ran for Vice President on the Al Gore ticket in the 2000 election, is attractive to republicans for his conservative stance on issues and his ability to attract the Jewish vote. The ConnecticutIraq. senator, an Independent Democrat, crossed the political aisle to endorse McCain. Lieberman is a supporter of the War in Iraq.

At 5/6 betting odds, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney is whom oddsmakers consider McCain’s front-runner for running mate. Since suspending his presidential campaign in February, Romney has been a strong supporter of McCain’s campaign.

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is also considered to be on McCain’s short list of possible running-mates. Bodog has odds on Pawlenty’s nomination for Vice President at 3/1.
