With one year to go until the United States elects a new President, Texas Congressman Ron Paul raised a record $4.2 million in a single day for his bid for the Presidency. Paul’s campaign is looking to secure $12 million in the fourth quarter of 2007 in and effort to position himself to receive his party's nomination. Ron Paul’s camp has raised over $7.5 million as of November 7th, 2007. Online betting giant BodogLife.com has Ron Paul at 11 to 1 odds to receive the Republican Nomination. The key battle ground states in the 2008 Presidential Election will be Ohio and the interior west (Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Utah). The Republican party must nominate the candidate that can win the key battle ground states and Point-Spreads.com believes that candidate is Ron Paul. A recent poll of Ohio Republican's stated that 42% are unhappy with their party. The state of Ohio has elected a Democratic Governor and Senator since the Bush/Cheney ticket won the state convincingly in 2004. Point-Spreads.com believes that the Republican party would benefit in Ohio by having Ron Paul as the Republican Nominee because he represents a true shake up in party leadership. Ron Paul is the only Republican candidate saying he will bring the troops home if elected President and wants to abolish the IRS. What is the significance of Ohio? Abraham Lincoln was the last Republican elected President of the United States without winning Ohio. The Republicans need to hold Ohio if they have any chance in retaining control of the White House for four more years. Besides the headway being made in Ohio, the Democrats are setting their sites on the interior west states of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico & Arizona. The recent influx of Latinos in these key battleground states are helping the Democratic party. These states have typically been won by Republicans but the residents of the interior west states tend to be libertarian Republicans that prefer "limited government". Ron Paul is the ideal candidate to retain these libertarian Republicans from voting for the Democratic candidate in 2008. Paul wants to get rid of the Patriot Act and is a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. Regardless of who secures the Republican nomination, the party wants to face New York Senator Hillary Clinton as the Democratic nominee. Why? Clinton is polarizing and will ignite the conservative base of the Republican party to come out and vote in the 2008 election. The fear with Republican strategists is that if any other candidate represents the Democratic party, the Republican base will sit this election out instead of voting for change. Is it possible for the 5th most popular Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul to become the 2008 Republican nominee? In 2004, John Kerry was in 5th place with 1 year to go and he secured the Democratic nomination. So it is completely feasible for Ron Paul to secure the 2008 Republican nomination. Point-Spreads.com believes 11 to 1 odds at BodogLife.com on Ron Paul to secure the 2008 Republican nomination is a great value bet. Ron Paul is an outspoken critic to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. On the eve of the passage of UIGEA, Paul stated, "The Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act, should be rejected by Congress since the Federal Government has no constitutional authority to ban or even discourage any form of gambling." Point-Spreads.com urges its readers to “Make Wagers, Not War!” and donate to Ron Paul’s 2008 Presidential Campaign. |
