Illinois Senator Barack Obama announced he raised a record $24.8 million in the first quarter of 2007 for his presidential primary campaign in the first quarter of 2007 topping Hillary Clinton’s $19.1 million. Both campaigns filed reports with the Federal Election Commission on Sunday. Obama collected $25.7 million from 104,000 donors, Clinton's $26.1 million from 60,000 donors and former vice presidential nominee John Edwards raised $14 million dollars. Barack even beat out Republican money leader and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney’s $21 million record.
