The Arizona Senate Race is one of the closest and toughest races of this election year. One of the biggest questions this year in this particular race is whether or not the Hispanic race will turn out to vote this year.
Hispanics make up a quarter of the population but they have voted historically in far lower numbers. This year, Arizona has become the center of a national debate over an immigration policy that has brought millions of Hispanics to the street in protest. 20,000 of them protested outside the Phoenix office of Senator Jon Kyl last spring.
Kyl (REP) got stuck in the crossfire. He challenged a reform proposal that was less accmommodating toward current illegal immigrants than an alternative advance by Democrats and Arizona's other Republican senator, John McCain. And when Hispanics around the country erupted in anger at the hard line talk about illegal immigrants from conservative GOP firebrands, many directed their anger towards Senator John Kyl as well.
