Mark Martin Odds to Win 2010 Daytona 500

by Matt Foust on Friday, February 12th, 2010

Mark Martin Odds to Win 2010 Daytona 500: Fifty-one year old Mark Martin will get behind the wheel for his 26th Daytona 500 on Sunday, but he will be seeking his first win in the "Great American Race". The legendary event is set to begin at 1:00pm ET on February 14th; it will be broadcast live on FOX. The Arkansas native is listed at 12 to 1 odds in online bookmaker Bodog.com's Mark Martin Odds to Win 2010 Daytona 500.

Mark Martin experienced a career resurgence last season and at 50 years of age almost won his first Sprint Cup Mark Martin Odds to Win 2010 Daytona 500Championship. The diminutive Martin finished second to teammate and four time champ Jimmie Johnson with a total of 6511 points. The banner year included wins at Chicago, Darlington, Michigan, Phoenix, and New Hampshire.

Daytona glory still escaped Martin, though, as he finished 16th in last year's race after starting in second. He also fared poorly at the Coke Zero 400, which took place at Daytona International Speedway on July 4th, placing 38th. For his career, Martin has no wins at the track in 49 starts and he has cracked the top five just nine times.

Despite his lackluster record in NASCAR's most celebrated race, Martin at least has a leg up on the competition after gaining his first ever Daytona 500 pole in last weekend's qualifying runs.

"We've got as good a car as anybody," Martin said. "Anybody can win this thing. Might as well be us."
