Tony Stewart Odds to win Daytona 500: Tony Stewart will once again chase the ever elusive Daytona 500 victory as gets behind the wheel of his No. 14 Stewart-Haas Office Depot/Old Spice Chevy this afternoon. The race is scheduled to get underway at 1:00pm ET for Stewart and his cohorts; it will be televised live on FOX. Tony Stewart Odds to win Daytona 500 at online bookmaker Sportsbook.com have the Indiana native listed at 6 to 1 odds to lasso his first "Great American Race".
Tony Stewart, despite his immense racing pedigree, performed beyond expectations last year in his first season as an owner/driver. Stewart's departure from Joe Gibbs Racing could not have gone much better as the two time Sprint Cup champion finished sixth in the points standings while recording four wins and 15 top five finishes.
The 39 year old Stewart also did good work at Daytona International Speedway last season, but he still failed to seize his first 500 victory. Stewart took eighth place in the event after starting fifth, he did, however, win both the pole and the race when NASCAR returned to the track in July for the Coke Zero 400. The July win was Stewart's third in 22 stock-car starts at the facility. He also has seven top five (three at 500) and 12 top 10 finishes (six at 500) there.
Stewart, who was the last driver not named Jimmie Johnson to win the Sprint Cup title, hopes he can break his Dale Earnhardt-like 500 curse this afternoon.
"I've never come to Daytona for the 500 and felt like I didn't have good enough stuff to win, ever," Stewart said. "But it's like we know how to win all the other races. We need to figure out how to win the one that matters most."
