2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Odds

2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Odds: The 2010 Daytona 500 is in the books but the NASCAR season is just revving up. As the circuit heads to California this week, online bookmaker Sportsbook.com has released their 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Odds. None other than four time and defending champion Jimmie Johnson is the favorite to win the Chase for the Sprint Cup at +300 moneyline odds.

Jimmie Johnson did not get the season off to the kind of start he would have liked; however, the Sprint Series is a 2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship Oddsmarathon, not a…sprint. Johnson, who finished 35th at Daytona while failing to lead a lap, suffered a similar beginning in last year's biggest race, placing 31st after a seventh place start. That did not stop the California native from cruising to his fourth straight title, though, as he won four of the last 10 races to beat out fellow Hendrick driver Mark Martin by 141 points.

Much the same should be expected of Johnson this season as he has done nothing but display consistency throughout his eight year career. Since hitting the Sprint Series full-time in 2002, Johnson has averaged 5.8 wins and 14.6 top five finishes per season.

Johnson does have a worthy band of adversaries trying to wrestle his title away, though. Among those trying to dethrone the No. 48 Lowes are four time champ Jeff Gordon, two time champ Tony Stewart, twenty-seven year veteran Mark Martin (40 career wins), and young gun Kyle Busch (12 wins the last two seasons).

Gordon, who co-owns Johnson's ride with Rick Hendrick, is the second most favored driver to win the points championship at +600 moneyline odds. Gordon almost grabbed his fifth title last year, placing third in the final standings at a mere 179 points behind Johnson.

Martin and Stewart are tied in the odds race, both coming in at +800 while Busch, who did not even make the Chase last year despite four wins, is listed at +1000 on the moneyline.
