Shelby American Betting Odds: The Sprint Cup Series lands in Las Vegas this week for the Shelby American at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The race is scheduled for 3:00pm ET on Sunday, February 28th; it will be broadcast live on FOX. Qualifying is set for 6:30pm ET tonight on the SPEED Network. Jeff Gordon finds himself in unfamiliar territory coming into this 
weekend's Las Vegas race, sitting 22nd in the Sprint Cup points standings. Granted, the season is just two races old, but Gordon failed to crack the top 20 at both Daytona and the Auto Club Speedway, tracks he typically performs well at.
Now the California native needs a solid outing in the desert to keep any pressure from mounting. Gordon has certainly acquitted himself well in Vegas, recording one win, five top five and six top 10 finishes in 12 career races at the track. Last year Gordon led 17 laps at the Shelby 427 and placed sixth after starting in the 28 hole.
Tony Stewart, while not as far back in the standings as Gordon, needs a good showing in Sin City as well. Stewart is presently 17th in the points standings, despite a ninth place run at the Auto Club 500 last weekend. And the Indiana native does not the same kind of track record at Vegas that Gordon does.
In 11 career outings at the track, Stewart has no wins, four top five and six top 10 finishes. Not bad numbers, but he is clearly a step behind the No. 24 car at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
