There is nothing like a rivalry, especially when it is with your own teammate. Edwards, who drives the number 99 Aflac Ford, has started the 2009 season in decent fashion, coming into this weekend's race with an average finish of 12.5. He took an ordinary 18th at Daytona, but had a strong showing at the Auto Club 500 last Sunday, finishing seventh after starting in the 25th position. He arrived in Vegas sitting at ninth in the Cup standings with 260 points.
Last year Edwards dominated the race in the desert, finishing first and leading 86 of the 267 laps ran. It was just his fourth race at the speedway, but he has found a nice groove in Vegas, recording two top 10 finishes in addition to his win there.
Biffle, who finished third to Edwards' second in last year's Cup standings, is off to an even better start than his Roush teammate. While he finished behind Edwards at Daytona, coming in 20th, he came in three spots ahead of him at Fontana last weekend. Biffle also led 16 laps at the Auto Club and he currently sits in fifth place in the Sprint Cup Series with 268 points.
Las Vegas was kind to the number 16 Ford last year too, as Greg started the race in the eighth position and went on to finish second after leading 17 laps. Sunday will mark Biffle's sixth running at the speedway; in his first five outings at the track he has garnered the aforementioned top five result and three top 10 placements.
