NASCAR young gun Denny Hamlin is looking to secure his first Sprint Cup Series win since March of 2008 when he conquered Martinsville. While his starting position is not optimal for today's race, he has a pretty good history at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Because of that, Sportsbook.com has Hamlin listed as the 10th most likely driver to take the checkered flag this evening. Hamlin, who captains the number 11 FedEX Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing, is currently 15th in the points standings with a tally of 235. He raced all 152 laps at Daytona but ended the race in 26th after starting out 10th. He fared much better at the Auto Club Speedway last Sunday in Fontana, California. He began that running in the 23rd spot and went on to place sixth, in the process earning the 60th top 10 finish of his career. Denny has made a habit out of finishing in the top 10 at Vegas. In three career races at the speedway he has never concluded a race worse than 10th. He produced a third place finish at the track in 2007 and he came in ninth last year after beginning the affair in 27th. Hamlin has never led a lap at the track, but his average finish there is 7.3. Tonight will mark the Virginia native's 118th Cup race. In his relatively brief tenure on the circuit, he has won four races, snagged 32 top fives (27.3 percent), and reeled in 60 top 10 finishes (51.2 percent). He will begin tonight's race in the 34th position after qualifying with a time of 29.461 seconds.
