The NASCAR Sprint Cup series returns to Texas Motor Speedway near Fort Worth, Texas, for the Samsung 500, the first of two series races at the track this year. Oddsmakers at online sports wagering leader SportsBetting.com have decided on Carl Edwards as the pre-race favorite with 5/1 odds to win. Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Office Depot Ford, has one win, the 2005 Dickies 500 at the 1.5 mile quad oval and the fastest finish averaging over 155 mph in his win. Oddsmakers also like Matt Kenseth and Kyle Busch, both with 7/1 winning odds. Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart, all with 8/1 odds chances, are also expected to be strong runners.
Edwards is the only driver with two or more win in 2008. Edwards picked up back-to-back wins at Fontana, Calif., in the Auto Club 500 followed by his win in the UAW-Dodge 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The wins were Edwards’ first back to back wins since 2005 when he won at Atlanta and Texas.
