The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in Fort Worth, Texas this weekend for the Samsung 500. The 500 mile, 334 lap race is scheduled to get started at 1:30pm ET on Sunday and will be broadcast live on FOX. The favorite to win the seventh race of the season is Roush driver Carl Edwards at +500 moenyline odds. Current points leader Jeff Gordon is not far behind Edwards, however, as the Jeff Gordon odds to win the Samsung 500 at Sportsbook.com have the four time cup champion listed at +700 on the moneyline. Jeff Gordon is off to a tremendous start this season, recording four top five finishes and five top 10 finishes through the first six races. His resurgence has landed him in first place in the points standings with a tally of 959; Clint Bowyer, who currently occupies the second spot, is 89 points behind Gordon. The California native continued his solid performance last weekend in Martinsville as he went on to finish fourth after starting on the pole. His top five conclusion at the Goody's Fast Relief 500 marked his fourth top five running in the last five races. Despite his success this year, Gordon is no doubt hungry for win, something he has not done since October of 2007 at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. Texas, though, has not exactly been kind to the number 24 DuPont Chevy; Gordon has never won a race in 16 cup runnings at the track. It has not been all bad for him, however, as he has six top five finishes there as well as eight top 10 results. Gordon did not fare well in last year's April race at Texas as he started 18th and went on to finish 43rd, but he turned things around in the November race. Gordon took the pole in that affair and finished in second place behind Carl Edwards. Last season's results brought Gordon's career top five percentage at the track to a respectable 37.5, a mark still well below his career top five percentage of 45.5. Gordon's mediocre accomplishments at Texas are clearly on his mind as he enters Sunday's Race. "Texas is one of those places that is on my radar" Gordon said. "I want to turn things around and conquer it."
