Carl Edwards will be looking for his first win of the season tonight when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series runs at Phoenix International Raceway. The Subway Fresh Fit 500, which will be the eighth cup event this year, is set to begin at 8:00pm ET on FOX. Carl Edwards Odds to Win the Subway Fresh Fit 500 at Sportsbook.com are presently listed at +800 on the moneyline. Edwards is currently ranked eighth in the Sprint Cup standings with a total of 889 points. He is 265 points behind Hendrick driver and four time cup champion, Jeff Gordon. Edwards, who drives the number 99 Aflac Ford for Roush Racing, finished 10th at Texas two weeks ago after starting in the 13th position. Last night he qualified 11th and will begin this evening's race in the sixth row. Edwards has had a decent season thus far, but his best finish was a third place running at the Kobalt Tools 500 in Atlanta on March 8th. It was his only top five result through seven races, but he has garnered two other top 10 finishes. His average finish over the last three weeks has been a slightly disappointing 17th; however, his average finish on the season is a more respectable 13.7. The Columbia, Missouri native has had pretty good success at Phoenix, despite never recording a win there. In nine career cup appearances at the track, he has placed in the top five four times (44.4 percent) and been inside the top 10 on six occasions (66.6 percent). Last year he finished fourth in the April race after starting in third and he also placed fourth in the November running following a 15th place start.
