When the 93rd running of the Indianapolis 500 gets underway this Sunday, no driver will be more watched than Danica Patrick. Despite having just one career win, the 27 year old is good enough to make people believe she can have a victorious run at the Brickyard. Indy 500 odds at Bodog.com have Patrick listed at 11 to 1 odds to win Sunday's race.

Danica Patrick arrived at Indy sitting in sixth place in the Indy Racing League points standings with a total of 74. She trails her Andretti Green Racing teammate and points leader Tony Kanaan by 26 after taking fifth place in the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 at Kansas Speedway on April 26th.

Patrick did not qualify where she had hoped for the Indy 500, but she is still is a decent position, starting 10th from row four. The Illinois native feels comfortable that she can make a move from there if she drives a smart race.

"In the past, the qualifying has been reasonably good, but it's a matter of staying there," Patrick said. "I think that's going to be the real focus, is just to not drop back and to not lose positions on the track on starts and restarts, to stay on top of the car throughout the race and keep up with the way the track is changing, and then to have really clean pit stops."

Patrick, who has been known to have a volatile temper, knows that she must keep her cool in order to have a chance at Indy glory. She has worked diligently to keep her emotions from getting the best of her this season.

"I've learned from the past," Patrick said. "Look, the emotional Danica is still there, but there's a time and a place. The time and place is not every weekend...it just doesn't really pay off, and it turns people off. It's a lot easier and a lot more fun to be relaxed."

One of the reasons the former IRL rookie of the year is able to feel more comfortable on the track is the new, hands-on approach of car owner Michael Andretti of Andretti Green Racing.

"Everybody on the team felt that I could help Danica from a driving standpoint," Andretti said. "She listens to what I have to say, she knows I'm not just blowing smoke and it's a great relationship."

So, how does the biggest name in the IRL feel about things heading into this weekend's race?

"It's all bunnies and rainbows around here," Patrick said.

The Indianapolis 500 will take place this Sunday, May 24th at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The event will be broadcast live on ABC at 12:00pm ET.
