It's all been about Carl Edwards at Charlotte Motor Speedway since claiming the $1-million prize by winning Sprint-Cup's All-Star race last week and in spite of missing out on Sunday's pole for the marathon Coca-Cola 600, online sportsbook Bodog.com lists Edwards a 7-to-2 Sprint Cup Odds favorite to win the race.
The fastest car in qualifying belonged to Brad Keselowsky, who will be on the pole with A.J. Almendinger on the outside of Row-1. Race favorite Edwards will start in the third position with 2008 Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin on the outside while Jeff Burton and Jimmie Johnson will occupy Row-3.
As of Saturday morning, Kyle Busch is listed on the Bodog.com Sprint Cup Board at 6-to-1 followed by five-time Sprint-Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson at 7-to-1. Hamlin is coming off 9-to-1 odds followed by Matt Kenseth at 9-to-1.
Picking a winner for the Coca-Cola 600 is by far the most difficult of all races on the Sprint Cup schedule but at the same time the most fun. Some pundits say picking a winner for this race is like throwing darts at a dart board. So with my dart in hand, I'm trying to hit Jimmie Johnson because he's my pick. Johnson's been slumping of late but has also won this thing three times in a row 2003-2005. The Hendrick team, who employs Johnson won it with Casey Mears in 2007. Hendrick also won it with Jeff Gordon in 1994, 1997, and 1998. Hendrick also won with Darrell Waltrip in 1988 and '89.
