Indy 500 Betting Odds: The 94th running of the Indianapolis 500 will take place this afternoon at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The green flag, which will be handled by Academy Award winning actor Jack Nicholson, is scheduled to drop at 12:00pm ET; the event will be broadcast live on ABC. Brazilian racer Helio Castroneves will look to put himself in some elite company this afternoon as he 
shoots for his fourth Indianapolis 500 victory. Only three other drivers, A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, and Rick Mears, have ever reached that benchmark, and all three are legends in the sport.
Castroneves, who won his third Indy 500 last year, will also be after a jump in the IRL points standings. He is presently third behind 2008 Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon and teammate Will Power. Castroneves has the pole in today's race, he will be next to current points leader and Team Penske cohort Power.
Dixon, who is just two points ahead of Castroneves and 26 back of power, will start today's race from the outside of the third row. The Australian driver is coming off of his first win of the season after taking the Road Runner Turbo 300 at the Kansas Speedway on May 1st. Dixon is coming in at +320 on the moneyline to capture his second Indy crown.
Danica Patrick, the biggest name in IRL racing, is listed at +2000 moneyline odds to win her first Indy 500. Patrick, who qualified a distant 23rd for today's Indy run, drew the ire of racing fans earlier this week when she indirectly blamed her poor qualifying time on her Andretti Autosport crew.
Also vying for another run at glory this afternoon are 2007 Indy winner Dario Franchitti (+450) and 2005 champion Dan Wheldon (+2500), both of which hail from the United Kingdom. Franchitti will start the race in the third position while Wheldon will begin from the 18th.
