The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is in Long Pond, Pennsylvania today for the Pocono 500 at the Pocono Raceway. NASCAR betting experts at online bookmaker Sportsbook.com have three time Sprint Cup winner Jimmie Johnson listed as a +450 money line favorite in their latest NASCAR: Pocono 500 Betting Odds.
The current points leader and former Cup champion, Tony Stewart, is listed at +1200 money line odds in today's race.
Tony Stewart, who drives the No. 14 Chevy for Stewart-Haas Racing, has yet to win a points race this season, but his steady performance has landed him atop the points standings with a total of 1853. Stewart is 46 points ahead of second place driver Jeff Gordon.
Last week the Columbus, Indiana native continued his solid maiden voyage as a driver/owner by taking second place at the Autism Speaks 400 at Dover International Speedway. Stewart has now finished fourth or better in four of his last six races. In 13 races this year the 38 year old has six top five finishes and nine top 10 conclusions.
Pocono should be a good place for Stewart, who won the Sprint Cup in 2005, to build on the momentum he has created the last several weeks. Stewart has raced in 20 Cup events at Pocono; he has one win, six top fives, and 14 top tens. Last year he started 12th and finished 35th in the June race, despite leading 14 laps. He fared much better in the August run at the track, starting 20th and finishing second.
Today's Pocono 500 is scheduled to start at 12:30pm ET and will be broadcast live on TNT.
Tony Stewart's Career Ratios:
Wins – 8.9 percent (33/369)
Top Fives – 36.5 percent (135/369)
Top Tens – 58.5 percent (216/369)
