Kyle Busch is having another solid season, producing three wins and four top five finishes through 15 races, but his aggressive style has occasionally hurt him. Consequently, the Las Vegas native is ninth in the points standings with a total of 1860. Busch has not cracked the top 10 in the last three races and is, no doubt, anxious to make up some ground on the 1.99 mile road course that is Infineon Raceway. Busch, who will be starting for the second position, has raced at the track four times and produced one win (last year – 78 laps led) and two top 10's.

Tony Stewart continued his run for another Sprint Cup championship last week, placing seventh in the LifeLock 400 at Michigan. The solid finish preserved Stewart's points led and he is now 47 points ahead of Jeff Gordon with a tally of 2189.

Last weekend's result marked the fourth time in the last five races that Stewart has finished inside the top 10. The Indiana native, who is starting fourth today, will be looking for more of the same in Sonoma. Given his record at Infineon, and road courses in general, he should expect a nice performance. Stewart has two wins at the race track in 10 starts and he has finished inside the top 10 60 percent of the time there. In 20 career NASCAR road course races, the 38 year old has six wins.

Jeff Gordon, who is listed at +700 on the moneyline to win today's race, took second place at Michigan last week, garnering his second straight top five finish. The stellar conclusions came after a difficult stretch where the California native produced an average finish of 19.7 over three races. Gordon has been unable to regain the points lead, but he is 142 points ahead of his third place teammate, Jimmie Johnson, in the Cup standings.

Gordon, who has one win this season to go along with eight top fives, will start today's race in the 13th position. The DuPont Chevrolet driver has five wins in 16 career races at Infineon; he has finished inside the top five 10 times and cracked the top 10 on 12 occasions.
