NASCAR Betting Odds: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series has reached the 19th race of the season, which is scheduled to take place this Saturday, July 11th at 7:30pm ET. Chicagoland Speedway will host the Lifelock.com 400, a 267 lap event that will be televised live on TNT. Tony Stewart, who is favored to finish ahead of Gordon at -135 moneyline odds, enters this weekend's race fresh off his second win of the season. Stewart got mixed up with Kyle Busch on the last lap of last week's Coke Zero 400, but managed to avoid disaster and be the first to take the checkered flag. The Indiana native led 86 laps of the Daytona hosted race.
Stewart increased his lead in the Cup standings by 180 points over the second place Gordon by securing his sixth top five finish in the last eight races. Through 18 races this year, Stewart has two wins, 10 top fives, and 14 top tens.
The 38 year old Stewart, who drives the No. 14 Old Spice Chevrolet, has had great success at Chicagoland in the past. He has raced there on eight occasions, winning twice and finishing inside the top five six times.
Jeff Gordon maintained his second place position in the Cup standings despite finishing 28th in last weekend's Fourth of July spectacular at Daytona International Speedway. However, Gordon's teammate, Jimmie Johnson, closed to within 14 points of the four time champion after placing second to Stewart. The dismal finish snapped a streak of four straight top 10 finishes for Gordon.
The 37 year old Gordon should feel positive about a potential rebound at Chicagoland this Saturday. Like Stewart, Gordon has been more than solid on the 1.5 mile tri-oval, winning once there and finishing insdie the top five four times in eight races.
Matchup Note: Stewart has finished ahead of Gordon in three of the last five races.
Qualifying for this weekend's race is scheduled to take place tonight at 8:30pm ET. Matchup odds are subject to change after the starting positions have been set.
