Tony Stewart is hoping to experience success when racing in the “Centurian Boats at the Glen” road race at Watkins Glen International Speedway in upstate New York on Sunday. Stewart has been winless since winning at Watkins Glen in 2007. This road course race couldn’t have come at a better time because Stewart for sure needs a slump buster. And if you haven’t noticed, Stewart is slumping. Fortunately, Watkins Glen is a course where winning has come easily having won four of the last six events at the 2.45 mile road course.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com have installed Stewart as the race favorite at +475 odds. Jeff Gordon is expected to be a strong contender as well at +525 odds. Stewart and Gordon have combined to win eight of the last 11 Sprint Cup races at Watkins Glen.
A win for either Gordon or Stewart at Watkins Glen would be the first time any driver from any racing series has won five races at the track.
“I feel that we’re the guys that every time we go there that everybody has to pay attention to us in order to win,” Stewart said. “Now there are times we don’t win, obviously, but we’re still in the hunt every time and got a shot.”
