Edwards picked up his fifth checkered flag of 2008 at Michigan last week and has won the pole position for tonight’s Sharpie 500 Sprint Cup Race at Bristol International Speedway. Edwards is also the reigning champion at Bristol having won the Sharpie 500 last year. Oddsmakers at online sportsbook SBGglobal.com have listed Edwards as the race favorite at +450 odds. Busch of Joe Gibbs Racing is listed with the second best odds at +500.
Edwards enters Bristol second in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings, 222 markers behind point leader Kyle Busch. In 23 starts, Edwards has accumulated five wins, 10 top-five and 17 top-10 finishes. This is his ninth Cup start at Bristol this weekend. In his previous eight starts, he has one win, two top-five and three top-10 finishes.
