 Lewis Hamilton drove a fantastic race to win the Canadian Grand Prix and take his first Formula 1 victory in only the sixth race of his career on Sunday. The Englishman led from the front throughout and drove with real composure on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. Bodog.com has made Hamilton EVEN money to win the 2007 Formula 1 Driver Championship.He held his nerve four times during safety car interruptions to beat Nick Heidfeld of BMW Sauber and Williams's Alexander Wurz. Speaking after the race the jubilant 22-year-old Hamilton said: “I have been ready for the win for quite some time, it was just a matter of where and when. I was over the moon to get pole but this is definitely on a different planet for me." Lewis Hamilton dedicated his victory to his father Anthony, who has looked after his career for the last 15 years and at one time held down three jobs in order to help fund his son's career. World champion Fernando Alonso finished back in seventh and in a race that will also be remembered for Robert Kubica´s huge crash after rolling his BMW. The Pole's 180 mph crash at the hairpin prompted the the longest of the safety car periods but by that stage of the race Hamilton was well clear. Hamilton´s victory puts him into an eight-point championship lead over Alonso and strengthens the astonishing prospect of him winning the title in his first season.
