Springboks can post strong World Cup challengeSouth Africa's World Cup winning chances have taken a huge boost with a highly impressive home series win over England's rugby team and must now be taken very seriously at 6/1 odds to win at Bodog.com.

Besides the comprehensive series win against Brian Ashton's side, two South African teams reached the Super 14 final for the first time – a clear sign their game is in extremely rude health.

It could be argued that the Springboks have the best chance to win a World Cup since 1995 which is surprising considering how bleak things looked in 2006.

They suffered a string of disappointing results that included a humbling 49-0 defeat by Australia and finished bottom of the Tri-Nations table.

But how times change. As well as their stunning national success against England, at club level the Bulls and Sharks reached the Super 14 final.

The New Zealand All Blacks who are currently in the middle of a home Test series with France are the tournament's 2/5 favourites. The All Blacks thrashed Les Bleus 42-11 last week.

It was the ideal start to their World Cup preparations and they were never seriously troubled by a French team missing many of their leading players because of championship play-offs back home.

Bodog.com has posted rugby betting odds on who will win the 2007 World Cup?

New Zealand 2/5

South Africa 6/1

France 9/1

Ireland 14/1

England 20/1

Australia 16/1

Wales 40/1

Argentina 50/1

Field (Any Other Team) 80/1
