Arsenal pulled out a 1-1 draw with Tottenham in the first leg of their Soccer Betting English League Cup semifinals as Theo Walcott scored with 11 minutes left to tie the game. Tottenham had led on a 37th minute goal from midfielder Jermaine Jenas. The draw was a big blow to Tottenham as now they will have to try and win on the road at Arsenal in the second leg. Tottenham has not beaten Arsenal in their last 21 tries. "It's a good result considering that Tottenham created good chances," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "We were resilient and didn't give in. We are in a good position, considering the game tonight, to make it.”
Tottenham outplayed Arsenal in the game but was unable to hold on for the victory. Arsenal actually had a late chance in the 75th minute but Armand Traore was high and wide on his chance. Tottenham blowing a lead against Arsenal is not new. Tottenham had scored first in eight of the last 13 games between the two teams and has still not come away with a win. They led 2-0 last year and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
Tottenham is disappointed with the draw but not discouraged. "We deserved a better result that we got tonight, but we've still got another 90 minutes to play," Tottenham coach Juande Ramos said. "Of the two games we've played here (this season), we've been close to getting a victory both times."
