 Mallorca got an 83rd minute goal from Ariel Ibagaza and held on for a 1-0 win over Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Copa del Rey action. Madrid was trying to win the Copa del Rey for the first time since 1993 but those hopes have now ended. Soccer Betting at SBG Global. Ibagaza got the game winner as he slipped by Madrid defender Fabio Cannavaro and put his shot over goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek to give Mallorca the win. Mallorca advanced due to a 3-1 aggregate score. They will now advance to the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rey. Madrid did not start Ruud van Nistelrooy, Robinho, captain Raul Gonzalez or goalkeeper Iker Casillas and it cost them. Coach Bernd Schuster did put van Nistelrooy in the game to start the second half and Robinho appeared entered in the 64th minute but they didn’t create many chances. Getafe, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, Racing Santander, Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao, and FC Barcelona also advanced. Barcelona got a 0-0 draw with defending champion Sevilla and advanced on away goals. Getafe won 1-0 at Levante to advance on a 4-0 aggregate score. Nine-time champion Atletico Madrid drew 1-1 at Valladolid to advance on away goals. Valencia beat Betis 2-1 and advanced 4-2. Santander beat 2006 finalist Zaragoza 4-2 to advance on a 5-3 aggregate score. Zaragoza was playing its first game under new manager Ander Garitano. Bilbao beat 2006 champion Espanyol 4-3 on penalties following a 1-1 draw. Giuseppe Rossi scored Villarreal's second and winning goal in the 12th minute of extra time to give Villareal the win against Recreativo Huelva. The quarterfinals will have Mallorca vs. Getafe, Atletico vs. Valencia, Santander vs. Athletic Bilbao, and Barcelona vs. Villarreal. The first legs of the quarterfinals of the Copa del Rrey will be played Jan. 23-24, with return games scheduled for Jan. 30-31.
