Everton Hosts Chelsea in League Cup SemifinalsEverton will try and overcome a 2-1 deficit against Chelsea as they host the Blues on Wednesday in the second leg of the League Cup semifinals on Wednesday. Everton is really looking to make the Final and they are putting a lot into Wednesday’s game. "There will be a fantastic atmosphere at Goodison," Everton striker Andy Johnson said. "Everyone knows it's a tough place to come, with 40,000 fans screaming away. It's been hard for sides here over the last few years and we can use that to our advantage."

Chelsea is in third place in the Soccer Betting Premier League while Everton has moved up to fourth place although well back of Chelsea. Everton will be trying for the League Cup because they know it is their best chance at taking a trophy this year. "We have not been in loads of semifinals so maybe we are fixated by it and we know what is waiting if we can get a result," manager David Moyes said.

The African Nations Cup is hurting both teams as Everton is without Aiyegbeni Yakubu and Joseph Yobo, and Chelsea is missing Salomon Kalou, Michael Essien, Didier Drogba and John Obi Mikel.  Chelsea is also missing captain John Terry and Andriy Shevchenko.  It is also questionable whether midfielder Frank Lampard or Wright-Phillips will play.  Chelsea has talent though and a player like Claudio Pizarro, who scored on Saturday, will get the chance to make a difference. "We have five strikers at the moment but most of them are away or with injury so it is important for me to play and I am getting my chance," Pizzaro said. "I hope I can use it and keep playing."  Chelsea also recently signed Nicolas Anelka and he is expected to play. Last year Chelsea beat Arsenal 2-1 to win the League Cup.

Wednesday’s game for Everton has taken on added importance since the game is a sellout and fans want the team to go to the Final. The key for Everton will bet to not give up an early goal.  The key players for Everton could be in the midfield as Mikel Arteta will need to make plays and Tim Cahill will need to score.

The other semifinal is between Arsenal and Tottenham, with the first leg ending in a 1-1 draw.
