A look at the Premier League standings would show that Manchester United should have no trouble at home against West Ham on Saturday as the Red Devils look to stay ahead of Chelsea at the top of the Premier League standings. It has not been easy recently though for Manchester United against West Ham, as the Red Devils have lost their last three matches against the Hammers. The last time Manchester United played at home against West Ham they lost 1-0 on a goal by Carlos Tevez who is now with United. That game last year meant nothing to United since they had clinched the league title at the time. Saturday’s game means a lot more to United.

West Ham v Manchester United

Manchester United is even in points with Chelsea but the Red Devils have the far superior goal difference which means that if they win on Saturday at home against West Ham and next week at Wigan the title is theirs. Manchester United is coming off a big win in the Champions League against Barcelona that puts them in the May 21st final against Chelsea. "It's a big bonus to beat Barcelona," United defender Mikael Silvestre said. "It makes it much easier to recover in time for Saturday. We are full of confidence. We didn't lose it at Chelsea, and against West Ham at home and Wigan away we are 100 percent confident we can win the title."
The only danger for United would seem to be losing focus. Star player Christiano Ronaldo does not want to see that happen. "It's a great feeling to be in my first Champions League final," Ronaldo said, "I feel very good. It's a massive result. But the final is in three weeks – we have to work and keep the concentration and most important now is the league. The final doesn't matter; we need to think about Chelsea and the league." With a win on Saturday and next week at Wigan there will be nothing Chelsea can do.
"We have a great opportunity to win the Premier League and the Champions League," Ronaldo said. "Now, we need to relax a little bit and think it was good work and try to win."

It may not be easy on Saturday as West Ham has won the last three meetings against United. "Last year when we went there we had to get something there to survive and they had already finished their season, were waiting for the cup final – this time they are looking to get something." West Ham manager Alan Curbishley said.
Of the last five home matches for United against West Ham they have three wins and two losses. Three of the five matches went under the total.
